The Library and Museum’s latest temporary exhibition marks the centenary of the opening of the Royal Masonic Hospital. This first opened in late 1916 to take casualties from the First World War. In 1933 the Hospital opened at a  new site at Ravenscourt Park in West London where its award winning Modernist building broke new ground in hospital design. It then played a role in the Second World War treating over 9,000 personnel.

Study Day – Explorer, Researcher, Freemason: Travellers to Ottoman Palestine

This joint Study Day on Saturday 29th October 2016, is organised by the Palestine Exploration Fund, the Association for the Study of Travel in Egypt and the Near East and The Library and Museum of Freemasonry. It will explore the contribution of 19th century Freemasons to the western world’s exploration and understanding of the Holy Land, and in particular Jerusalem, in ancient and more modern times. Held in the historic Freemason’s Hall in central London, the ticket price includes tea / coffee, and a tour of this unique building and its collections.

A printmaking workshop on November 10th. In the 1700s masonic aprons were often decorated with printed symbols. Join our curatorial staff for a brief introduction to how prints were used in early freemasonry in books and on aprons and objects and then Jodie from Be Smart Choose Art will help you create your own paper masonic apron using our pop up printmaking workshop.
